Introduction
Released in March of 2008, the Samsung’s 650 series LCD TVs – also known as the 6 series – have been pleasing consumers and reviewers alike. We recently got our hands on the 46″ LN46A650, the mid-sized model in the series, and put it to the test. As expected, the TV faired quite well and lived up to the standard of previous high-end 1080p LCDs from Samsung.
There are a couple of things which makes the 6 series stand out from the competition. The first is easy to spot: a deep red trim that surrounds the glossy black frame, aka the Touch of Color (ToC). The other is more subtle, found only after examining the rear input panel or turning the TV on; it is a built-in Ethernet connectivity, allowing the TV to access RSS feeds directly from the Internet. Samsung LN46A650 vs LN40A650 vs LN52A650
Samsung’s A650 series model are among the top performers of any LCD TVs on the market. In addition to the 46-inch LN46A650, this series comes with 40- and 52-inch screen sizes, as the first two numbers of the model name indicate the screen size of each. It is recommend to measure both the placement area and the viewing distance before making your final decision. If your viewing distance range from 5 – 8.75 feet, we recommend the LN40A650; 5.8 – 11.7 feet for the LN46A650; and 6.5 – 12.7 feet for the LN52A650.

The LN46A650 is already an innovative LCD HDTV due to its Ethernet port for accessing the InfoLink RSS feeds. Now you don’t even need to bother with the Ethernet cable, as the Wireless LinkStick is an additional accessory that offers users the ultimate in convenience.
The LinkStick plugs into the LN46A650′s USB port and allows it to access wireless networks and thus download the RSS feeds. The downside is that it takes up the TV’s sole USB port, but having one less cable to deal with is the welcome advantage. And at $35, it won’t break the bank. Who would have thought… an LCD HDTV signing onto your wireless network? It looks like the future is here…

Small numbers of customers have reported that they are experiencing a problem: that their LN46A650 turns off unexpectedly. Ruling out a number of other potential reasons, it turns out that this was a flaw in the TV’s firmware. A firmware update is available to fix this issue.
It will be updated to ver 2001.3, which will also solve the Auto Motion Plus problem of stuck images, unsaved “SRS” settings and problems with sound quality. Updating the firmware is only recommended for users who have experienced any of these problems.
